All these good people and I gave up a day of our time this month to learn how to rescue inflatable animals. On a hot and sunny Sunday we all stood dressed in neoprene up to our knees in sea water administering first aid to a rubber dolphin, pilot whale and seal. Why, you may ask? Its a secret. Not really, its all in aid of providing trained personnel around the coasts of Britain to be on call and ready to assist any stranded marine mammals. The charity is called BDMLR (British Divers Marine Life Rescue) and anyone can train (over the age of 16). If you're interested then click HERE for more details. You don't have to live by the sea. Just be willing to drive there if required. All members of this organisation are volunteers and becoming a medic means that should a whale or dolphin strand on the coast near you, you could get the call to head on down and play a vital role in getting it back where it belongs. Now that has got to be worth a day of your time!
