Merry Days Indeed

They said it would rain! Allegedly it always rains at ‘Marbury Merry Days’ but this year the Bishop of Chester and I drove the clouds away as we opened the 50th Merry Day in aid of the church (I think Bishop Keith had more influence than me, as I am an atheist).

A great day’s entertainment. A real country fair with “splat the rat” (bean bags - not real rats!), vintage tractors, falconry displays and, my favourite - terrier racing.

The other great aspect of the day was the number of people who had their dogs out and about with them. Swimming in the mere, eating sheep poo off the grass and being fussed and patted by passersby. On days like this it really is a dog’s life!
