Ready, Set..... Go?

Well, it's a start. Not exactly how we planned but this is the reality of starting most businesses. Lots of hurdles and obstacles. I heard a lovely saying recently that helped put things into perspective: "These aren't obstacles in the road, this is the road."

It is different working at an independent that you own. It feels right. The on-call is not an issue and the clients really understand the challenges we are going through so are really supportive.

Well done Steve. It is incredibly brave starting a new Veterinary Practice from scratch and I thoroughly admire you for this. Even more wonderful is choosing to do your own out of hours work - so much more useful and successful when you know the animal and the animal knows you.
it is tragic that so many wonderful independent practices have been gobbled up by the corporates, some of whose mega wealthy hedge fund owners put profit before human, as well as animal well being.
I have owned numerous animals in my life from horses and dogs to hamsters and a troublesome dumped Old English Game Bird cockerel (who became the funniest, most brilliant character ever) plus many other finned, furred and feathered species.
When our fantastic mixed animal practice in Nottinghamshire succumbed to the corporate raiders one of the vet directors resigned in disgust. Now the care is a shadow of what it once was - heartbreaking.
I so applaud your fight back and your own private risk at restoring the type of service which always made vets the most loved and respected members of society.
I wish your practice the very best of luck.

Bong!
