Well Useless got a bit of a shock when she came into my bedroom the other day! There was another female muscling in on her act. Pechu had been rushed to the surgery late in the afternoon with suspect poisoning. She had eaten a whole load of slug pellets that are very toxic to dogs and was now showing the first signs of toxicity - trembling and shaking violently. We made her vomit with an injection and saw that there had been quite a few pellets in her stomach. After calling the Veterinary Poisons Investigation Service (who are awesome), we stuck her on a drip and she took a ride home with me overnight so I could keep an eye on her. Thankfully by 11pm she had past the worst so we both could get some sleep. This is the second case of poisoning I’ve taken home this last couple of months. The other was a cat that had been treated with a pet store flea treatment that almost killed it. Be very careful what you use near/on your pets. Read all the labels and ring us early if you suspect something’s up.
